Carolina Panthers 2025-26 Odds & Team Projections

The Panthers weren't expected to do too much in the 2024-25 NFL season, but their offense sparked optimism towards the end of the season. Carolina's offense will be led by quarterback Bryce Young, who showed potential by posting impressive stats in the last three games of the season. The Panthers retained key offensive linemen in free agency and used their first-round draft pick on WR Tetairoa McMillan, giving Young a powerful target.

Carolina Panthers Roster

Let's take a look at how the Panthers' roster looks after the draft. The official roster will not be set until late August.

Quarterbacks

  • Bryce Young
  • Andy Dalton

Since Cam Newton was released in 2020, the Panthers have had a new starting quarterback each year: Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield. But Carolina's 2023 draft pick, Bryce Young, is returning for his third season.

Young could not have asked for a better mentor and backup QB in Andy Dalton, who has been tasked with teaching Young the ropes in the NFL. After playing nine seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals and leading them to the playoffs five seasons, Dalton bounced around the NFL until g with the Panthers in 2023.

Dalton signed a two-year contract with the Panthers in February 2025.

Running Backs

  • Chuba Hubbard
  • Rico Dowdle
  • Raheem Blackshear
  • Trevor Etienne

Chuba Hubbard ed the Panthers as a fourth-round pick in 2021 after a prolific career at Oklahoma State. As a rookie, he served as the primary backup to Christian McCaffrey, rushing for over 500 yards in ten starts when McCaffrey was injured. In 2024, Hubbard totaled 1,195 rushing yards and ten touchdowns.

With RB Jonathon Brooks missing the 2025 season, the Panthers signed Cowboys' RB Rico Dowdle in free agency, adding depth to the running back room. Dowdle is coming off a 1,000-yard season.

Raheem Blackshear entered the league in 2022 as an undrafted free agent from Virginia Tech, with the Panthers g him away from the Bills' practice squad. Blackshear flashed his speed and -catching ability out of the backfield for the Panthers as a rookie, compiling 168 rushing yards, 223 receiving yards, and two total touchdowns despite limited touches. His 2024 season wasn't as impressive, with just 80 rushing yards.

Carolina selected Georgia running back Trevor Etienne in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Etienne is a dual-threat and will bring versatility to the offense. He signed a rookie contract with the team in May.

Wide Receivers & Tight Ends

  • WR Jalen Camp
  • WR David Moore
  • WR Xavier Legette
  • WR Adam Thielen
  • WR Jimmy Horn Jr.
  • WR Hunter Renfrow
  • TE Tommy Tremble
  • TE Mitchell Evans
  • TE Ja'Tavion Sanders

Veteran WR Adam Thielen has been a trustworthy target for Young. But his Week 3 hamstring injury kept him sidelined for part of the 2024 season. He finished with 615 receiving yards and five touchdowns. We expect Thielen to be a top target for Young in 2025.

Rookie WR Xavier Legette had a disappointing season with just 500 receiving yards, but the Panthers are hoping they found a dependable receiver in this year's draft. They used their first-round draft pick on Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan.

WR Hunter Renfrow sat out all of last season due to an injury. The Panthers signed Renfrow this offseason, hoping he will make a comeback and become a reliable receiver for Young.

The Panthers' TE group is expected to be solid, re-g Tommy Tremble and Ja'Tavion Sanders. They also selected TE Mitchell Evans in the fifth round, giving Young a 6'5 target. Sixth-round pick Jimmy Horn Jr. is currently recovering from a hamstring strain, but Coach Canales is optimistic about his return.

Offensive Line

  • OT Brady Christensen
  • OT Austin Corbett
  • OT Damien Lewis
  • OT Ikem Ekwonu
  • C Cade Mayes
  • OT Robert Hunt
  • OT Chandler Zavala
  • OT Taylor Moton
  • OT Yosh Nijman

The offensive line was a strength for the Panthers in the 2024 season, particularly in run blocking. Carolina retained much of its offensive line this offseason. If the strong core group can improve its protection, they are expected to be one of the best O-lines in the league.

Defensive Line

  • DT Derrick Brown
  • DE LaBryan Ray
  • DT Bobby Brown III
  • DE A'Shawn Robinson
  • DT Cam Jackson
  • DE Tershawn Wharton

Pro Bowler Derrick Brown returns after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 1, which is an the run defense. Carolina brings in two new run-stoppers to the defensive line with the gs of Bobby Brown III and Thershawn Wharton. Wharton had a career-best 6.5 sacks for the Chiefs last season.

A'Shawn Robinson is a veteran defensive lineman who brings experience and depth to the group. The Panthers also selected Cam Jackson in the fifth round of the draft to add depth to the defensive line.

Linebackers

  • OLB Amaré Barno
  • OLB Nic Scourton
  • LB Claudin Cherelus
  • OLB DJ Johnson
  • OLB D.J. Wonnum
  • OLB Princely Umanmielen
  • ILB Josey Jewell
  • LB Chandler Wooten
  • LB Pat Jones II
  • LB Trevin Wallace

Carolina's linebacker group will see a mix of returning players and new players, leading to a potential the Panthers' defense.

DJ Johnson and Amaré Barno make up the young depth at outside linebacker. The Panthers continue to focus on adding youth to the defense with the g of Pat Jones II and drafting Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen

The inside linebacker group will be led by Josey Jewell, Trevin Wallace, and Christian Rozeboom.

Cornerbacks

  • Jaycee Horn
  • Michael Jackson
  • Chau Smith-Wade

Depth is an issue when it comes to Carolina’s cornerback group. The Panthers did sign pro bowler Jaycee Horn to a four-year contract extension in March.
Playing opposite of Horn will most likely be Michael Jackson, who signed a two-year contract extension in March. The Panthers will most likely add to their cornerback group before the start of the season.

Safeties

  • Tre’von Moehrig
  • Demani Richardson
  • Nick Scott
  • Lathan Ransom

The Panthers' safeties for the 2025 season are expected to be a solid group. One of the biggest upgrades is the g of Tre’von Moehrig, who should bolster the run defense.

Demani Richardson showed potential for growth last season with 51 total tackles and 28 solo tackles. His good play-making ability should make the Panthers’ defense stronger. Nick Scott also returns to the Panthers after missing some of the 2024 season due to an injury and recording 16 solo tackles.

Carolina drafted Lathan Ransom in the fourth round and expects him to be a strong addition to the defense.

Special Teams

  • Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald
  • Long Snapper JJ Janesen
  • Punter Sam Martin

Carolina has moved on from kicker Eddy Pineiro, bringing in Ryan Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald didn't miss a kick last season at Florida State, converting all 13 field goal attempts and 14 extra points.

The Panthers also parted ways with punter Johnny Hekker but signed former Bills’ punter Sam Martin. Martin averaged 46.7 yards per punt last year.

J.J. Jansen has been a model of consistency for Carolina, playing every game since 2009 as the Panthers' long snapper.

What to Expect from the Panthers

Panthers fans may have to wait a while longer before this team (and organization) can be Super Bowl contenders, but ahead of the 2025-26 season, things look promising for the Panthers to be possible playoff contenders.

The success of the team will come down to how QB Bryce Young has evolved and if the weapons around him can produce. The defense will also need to significantly improve, but after g new faces to the roster and drafting promising young talent, Carolina is moving in the right direction.
